Beachfront lazing on one of Anguilla’s 33 beaches is arguably a romantic pursuit in and of itself. So, how do you up the romance factor when you’re escaping with your other half on a getaway centered on disconnecting with the world and connecting with each other? If you’re heading to the island, here are five romantic experiences in Anguilla for you and that special someone:
Sunset Sail on Tradition Charters
Honestly, how do you beat the utter beauty and tranquility of a gorgeous sunset? Watching the sunset while sailing across the Caribbean with a glass of champagne in hand.
Tradition Sailing knows how to make a sunset experience on the sea extra special, keeping your glass full with champagne, rum punch or a crisp glass of rose. Sailing into Little Bay at sunset is nothing short of magical. Join for one of their shared charters or charter the boat for your own private sail.

Dining on the Water
Dining in Anguilla leaves visitors to the island spoiled for choice: there are a number of world-class dining experiences in settings that are amongst the world’s best. For most couples, a beachfront dining experience with the sound of the Caribbean Sea as the evening’s soundtrack is the ultimate in al fresco dining.
For upscale Caribbean fare, try Straw Hat Restaurant on Meads Bay. For French cuisine, make a reservation at Jacala, and don’t discount their lunch — it’s one of my favorites! Other romantic upscale favorites include Mango’s for a seaside experience and da ‘Vida (go on a Thursday to be serenaded by Omalie 360!) located on Crocus Bay.
Horseback Riding on the Beach
I had always questioned the true romance of horseback riding. After my first experience in Hawaii, I left with a bruised bum and spent half the time swatting bugs. Fast forward to our time in Ireland, and our experience horseback riding through Killarney National Park was nothing short of magical. During a private ride, it’s an absolutely peaceful way to disconnect and take in your natural surroundings.
In Anguilla, horseback riding takes the utmost romantic form: trot along Anguilla’s world-class beaches. Learn more about Seaside Stables and their private rides.
Beachfront Couples Massage
If lounging on the beach isn’t quite relaxing enough, add some oomph with a beachfront couples massage to really allow your stresses to melt away. There’s something about the simplicity and beauty of the natural landscape that ups the ante on an already-enticing spa treatment.
At Frangipani, enjoy a beachfront massage with Malakh Day Spa or opt to enjoy an in-room experience for added privacy.
Private Island Escape
Setting sail to one of Anguilla’s off-island cays is the real-life equivalent of falling into a postcard. Sandy Island’s colorful pops are all kinds of charming, and they have a slew of tropical cocktails to keep you fueled during your day. Scilly Cay’s conch shell-lined perimeter is next-level, and the food there is world-class. Spend a day at an off-island cay to feel like you’ve really laid claim to a desert island.
Want to really up the ante? Talk to Scilly Cay about renting out the entire island. For $4,000, the island will be your personal stomping ground for the day. Is there a more proposal worthy locale?
Anguillaphiles, what do you think are the island’s most romantic offerings? Anything I’m missing?
